Taj Theog Resort & Spa: Where Glorious Sun Shines Over the Himalayas
Pristine hills, glorious sunshine, cool breeze and clean environment together constitute an ideal place for a perfect Summer vacation. We headed off to Taj Theog Resort & Spa last summer to explore and experience this beauty and let us tell you we weren’t disappointed. Even though we took this trip just after COVID-19 travel restrictions had been eased off, we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Located 4 and a half hours away from Chandigarh and an hour away from Shimla, Theog is a small town where this resort sits atop a hill. We left early in the morning and arrived at Taj Theog at 12 PM. As soon as we reached, we were stopped at the main gate where the security check was done and our luggage was transferred onto a caddy. On the next one, we hopped on and were driven up the hill to the reception and entrance of the resort. We were warmly greeted by the Front Office Staff and a glass of welcome drink!
Source: PrinkledBy this time, we were mesmerized by the view that overlooked the snow-covered mountains of Narkanda. The sight of sunshine rays falling over the snow-covered peaks leaves you in complete awe. And, while we were still mesmerized by that view, the gorgeous hotel reception totally blew us away.

Source: PrinkledWooden designs and ceiling-high windows overlooking the hills greet you at the reception and lobby with a library. And, well the way sunlight lights up the entire setting does steal your breath away.
After admiring the sight for a bit, we proceeded with the check-in formalities and headed to our room. And, that was an absolute surprise!
Unbelievable Sight From The Premium Room Valley View!
We were escorted to our room by a staff member, and while walking towards it, we loved how the hallways were done up with beautiful tapestry and carpets. We had booked the Premium Room Valley View, which came with a balcony overlooking the Narkanda hills. As soon as we got to our room, the staff member showed us around and told us about the facilities we had access to.
Source: PrinkledThe gorgeous room was quite a spacious one. With the design paying extreme attention to details, the room was absolutely beautiful. The delicate woodwork, hand-tooled stone-works, earthy rugs and furnishings, dhurries and alpine furniture made of cedar wood all remind you of a quintessential home in the Himalayas.

And, the best part is the Sit-out balcony with a view that will leave you spellbound. We immediately headed out to the balcony and couldn’t stop admiring the beauty of the hills. We spent the rest of the day just enjoying the view from our room and then napping a while in the comfy King-size bed. And, well we woke up just in time for an amazing dinner!
A Gourmet Experience: Delectable Food For The Soul At Taj Theog

And, when we booked Taj Theog Resort & Spa for her summer getaway, we were a little sceptical about food. Well, it was because we were aware that their restaurant, Patiala Room and bar, Theog Junction weren’t functional at that time. But, all our scepticism came to an end when we tasted the food at Tragopan, the multi-cuisine restaurant.
Source: PrinkledOn our first night at the hotel, we headed for dinner around 8:30 PM. At first, we thought we could sit outside but the wind was way too chilly for us and we decided to dine indoors. We explored the menu at Tragopan and realised that they had almost every popular dish from each of the cuisines to relish. We ordered a Paneer Tikka and Chilli Chicken along with Lemon Iced Tea. And, within 15 minutes, piping hot starters were served to us with a smile by the friendly servers.

Source: PrinkledThe Paneer Tikka was perfectly balanced in terms of taste and presentation and we totally loved the freshness. Chilli Chicken too was juicy, spicy and packed with flavour. The Lemon Iced Tea was made with fresh ingredients and wasn’t too sweet, unlike how most places serve it. We loved it.

We went on to order a Chicken Mexicana pizza for dinner and while we waited, we clicked a few photos. The Pizza arrived in 12-15 minutes and well, it tasted even better than it looked!
The next morning, by 8:30 AM, we were up and enjoyed the morning tea on our room’s balcony with a stunning view of the mountains. Post which, we headed to Tragopan for breakfast. And, well, the buffet spread truly impressed us. From the usual treats like Idli-Sambar-Dosa-Uttapam, Parathas, Eggs-to-order, and fresh bakery treats, the buffet also served Pahadi dishes like Siddu, Babru and Patande. For breakfast, we preferred to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine & cool Himalayan breeze. And we dug right in. We tried everything including Pahadi dishes and enjoyed it thoroughly. And, to end things on a sweet note, we relished chocolate croissants and pancakes. The breakfast service was impeccable and the staff was attentive to our needs. We had an amazing morning time!

Source: PrinkledWe spent the rest of our day exploring the gorgeous west and east gardens at the hotel and captured the beauty of the nature trails created to reach these gardens. Though the pool and Jiva Spa weren’t operational back then due to COVID-19 norms, we took a peek at both and were quite impressed. The pool had a magnificent view of the mountains and the facilities for the guests were top notch!
Besides this, the hotel also offered us experiences around Shimla including Narkanda Skiing, Golf at Naldera Golf Course, Deodar Trekking Trail, and a day picnic. However, since we only were there for 2 days, we decided to just spend some quiet time with each other. And, well that turned out to be quite fulfilling.
By the end of 2 days, we were absolutely refreshed, relaxed and rejuvenated, all thanks to the amazing experience at Taj Theog Resort & Spa, Shimla.
