P and I have been going on dates since 2010, and even after getting married, our ritual hasn’t changed much. And, Throughout this 13-year journey, one cafe in Chandigarh has been our favourite. In Chandigarh, a lot has changed since 2010, but what has remained the same is the deliciousness served with consistency and a smile at this cafe. And, that is why this cafe is a part of our series celebrating the ‘OG Cafes In Chandigarh’. We’re talking about none other than Ovenfresh Chandigarh.
Serving deliciousness since 1995, Ovenfresh Chandigarh is genuinely one of the pioneers of revolutionising the cafe scenes in the city beautiful. And, for the last 13 years of P and I frequenting this cafe, their locations may have changed, but all of that has only made us love it even more. And, many of our friends and fellow city foodies will agree how delicious their food has remained over the years. Located now in Sector 35, Sector 7 and Elante, this cafe has been our go-to place for good food. So, today, we’re going to tell you about the 5 dishes we love at Ovenfresh Chandigarh and why you shouldn’t miss these at all!
1. Grilled Sandwiches With Coleslaw And Uncle Chipps
Source: PrinkledNow, many of you may ask, “What is so special about a grilled sandwich?” Every café serves one and usually has similar fillings. But at Ovenfresh Chandigarh, grilled sandwiches are sacred. They are made with such perfection and flavour that you can’t help but go ‘wow’ after every bite. Moreover, the use of fresh ingredients enhances the overall experience of savouring these sandwiches. Whether you are a spice lover or prefer more subtle flavours, they have a grilled sandwich for every palate. Personally, we adore the Vegetable Club Sandwich, Chicken & Cheese Sandwich, and Chicken Tikka Sandwich.
Accompanying these sandwiches are their signature coleslaw and chips. Let me tell you, these coleslaw and chips are one of the major reasons why we keep returning to this place. Their recipe, which we are certain is a closely guarded secret, must be protected at all costs. The coleslaw is incredibly delicious, fresh, and creamy, with a delightful crunch from the vegetables. It pairs amazingly well with the spicy and minty Uncle Chipps. Frankly, every time we visit, P ends up separately ordering two portions of them to avoid any potential conflicts!
2. Spicy Paneer Tikka Pan Crust Pizza

By baking them from scratch, their chefs have ensured that no one ever tweaks the recipe, and that is probably the reason for their consistency. With a crunchy crust, a generous amount of cheese and toppings, and a whole lot of flavorful sauce, Ovenfresh’s pizzas are absolutely smashing. We particularly love the Spicy Paneer Tikka pizza for its distinct flavour and scrumptiousness. Baked and served fresh, it is one of the best pizzas in the city, and one must definitely give it a try to understand the hype. The smokiness of the Paneer Tikka when comes together with the crunchy Pan Crust base and fresh veggies, it is a symphony of flavours you’ll love. Apart from that, we also enjoy their Vegetarian Four Seasons, Meat Trio, and Chicken Tikka Surprise pizzas for their unique blend of flavours and wholesomeness!
3. Chicken Parmesan
Source: PrinkledThink Italian with lots of cheese in stuffed chicken, toasted garlic bread, and deliciously flavoured pasta, and voila, Ovenfresh Chandigarh has a dish ready for you: their special Chicken Parmesan. The first time P and I tried this dish, we were gobsmacked. A perfectly cooked chicken stuffed with parmesan cheese and herbs and fried to perfection is the main element of this appetising dish. Along with it, you get a generous portion of spaghetti pasta in pink sauce, topped up with parmesan shavings and rocket leaves. And, that isn’t all, you also get a fresh piece of toasted garlic bread to savour that mouthwatering pasta sauce. Now, that’s a wholesome meal in itself you wouldn’t want to miss and a tantalising one at that!
4. Indonesian Paneer Satay
Source: PrinkledIf you’re thinking that Ovenfresh Chandigarh might only be good for wholesome meals, you’re wrong my friend. They’ve got enough appetisers for those quick meetings and catch-ups that are packed with flavours. One of our favourites is the Indonesian Paneer Satay. The soft pieces of cottage cheese grilled perfectly and slathered with the mouthwatering sauce served with two grilled toasts that are loaded with delicious toppings make for a perfect platter you’d love to devour. The taste, well, that again is unmatchable!
5. Cold Coffee
Source: PrinkledMany of you may be wondering what is coffee doing on this list. Well, let me tell you clearly. The coffee served at Ovenfresh was my first-ever introduction to cold coffee outside my home. And, back in 2010, I couldn’t stop raving about it. Not much has changed since then and even now when P and I visit Ovenfresh Chandigarh, we have to have luscious, creamy and soothing cold coffee. No fuss, no drama coffees are actually now a thing of the past considering how many cafes have amped it up. But, in a world of all dramatic coffees, Ovenfresh’s cold coffee is like coming home after a long workday and finding comfort. And, well a deliciously aromatic comfort at that!
