In this case, Diljit Dosanjh, a local Jalandhar boy, was called to perform not once but twice at one of the biggest music festivals in the world, Coachella. What’s the hype? Well, he became the first ever Punjabi artist to rock Coachella. Before this, no other Punjabi artist had ever taken the stage. Diljit saying, “Punjabi aa gaye hun Coachella, chetti ni jaande”, made everyone cheer for him and rightly so!

It wouldn’t be wrong to say sometime in the future when Indian artists get invited to more such events like Coachella that ‘Diljit Dosanjh walked so that many other Indian artists could run.’ At Diljit’s Coachella performances, while it was an expectation to see most of the crowd that was Indian-Americans and South-East Asian, what wasn’t expected was global celebs like Diplo to join in and dance away on Dosanjhala’s song ‘Patiala Peg’.

With everyday things filling us up with hurt and hate, Diljit Dosanjh’s performance at Coachella, both the times, was a huge lesson in humility and kindness. Be it him bowing down in front of the crowd in humility or him apologising to the security at the concert on behalf of his excited fans, Diljit’s every move on stage won hearts and showed the world what his value system was and in turn, reflected greatly on Indian artists.
