With 5 wickets in hand, Chennai Super Kings wins IPL 2023 and gives all its fans a reason to smile. After over a month of waiting, IPL 2023 has come to a conclusion and in the final match between Chennai Super Kings(CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT), MS Dhoni’s yellow squad has lifted the trophy for the 5th time. Yes, you heard it right! After an exhilarating IPL final on Monday evening, CSK defeated Hardik Pandya’s GT by 5 wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat.
When the match began on Monday evening, MS Dhoni won the toss for CSK and chose to bowl first. Gujarat Titans put a massive score of 214 on the board. However, rain interrupted the game, and hence, by the D/L method, CSK was given a target of 170 runs in 15 overs. MS Dhoni’s team was off to a great start with Rituraj Gaikwad and Devon Conway hitting 4s and 6s in the powerplay overs. However, the winning runs for the Chennai Super Kings were hit by Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube.
Fans of MS Dhoni and CSK are over the moon as their favorites have lifted the Tata IPL trophy for the 5th time and emerged as champions. Gujarat Titans, the defending champions, fought hard under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya but lost the trophy to MS Dhoni’s squad.

The family of MS Dhoni, as well as other players of the Chennai Super Kings, was seen cheering in the stands. When Ravindra Jadeja hit the winning 4 runs, everyone was ecstatic. Sakshi Singh Dhoni and Ziva Dhoni were also seen celebrating with Mahendra Singh Dhoni. As soon as Jadeja hit the winning runs, Dhoni and the CSK team ran to hug him.
Coming to the post match presentation and IPL 2023 tournament awards, Yashasvi Jaiswal (Rajasthan Royals) was named ‘Emerging Player Of The Season’, ‘Electric Striker Of The Season’ went to Glen Maxwell (Royal Challengers Bangalore), ‘Game Changer & Most Valuable Player Of The Season’ went to Shubhman Gill (Gujarat Titans), Faf du Plessis was awarded ‘Longest Six of The Season’ award, ‘Catch of The Season’ went to Rashid Khan, Fair Play Award went to Delhi Capitals. The Purple Cap of IPL 2023 went to Mohammad Shami and Orange Cap was awarded to Shubhman Gill.
This celebration for the Chennai Super Kings is certainly a big one, as Ambati Rayadu recently announced his retirement and was playing his last IPL match.
On the other hand, the Gujarat Titans gave the Chennai Super Kings a tough time by playing their best game on the field. From Rashid Khan to Mohammad Shami, each of the bowlers did their best to put a stop to CSK’s run haul. Mohit Sharma managed to take wickets in the most crucial overs for the Gujarat Titans. However, they fell short, and the Chennai Super Kings lifted the IPL 2023 trophy for the 5th time!
